My husband and I are looking for ways to save to buy a house. We know we have to cut down on our monthly expenses, but we can’t agree on what we are going to cut. He wants to cancel our Direct tv, but I say no way. There are so many ways we can cut expenses without giving up our sole form of in home entertainment.
I told him that I would start clipping coupons, stop buying clothes and shoes, and dye my hair back to its natural color if he agreed not to cut off the Directv. If I do those three things we will probably save at least $300 per month. I know that’s not going to buy us a house, but it’s a start.
I can’t believe he is still insisting that we get rid of the satellite TV. Of course he doesn’t want to cut out his poker nights, and his electronics budget, so I’m thinking this is going to be a real grudge match between us. I don’t know how we are ever going to come to a consensus.

I am sad for the writer, because I have no money to buy something that I like. Every month I have to cut down my expenses, and I pay for basic living expenses, there is no mor money to do other thing.
Buying a house is a huge committment. Sometimes you do have to sacrifice things but sacrificing tv would be extremely heard. Clipping coupons is a great idea.
I’ve actually had the same conversation with my partner; so similar in fact that it almost sounds as if you’ve been listening in on our conversations!
He wants to get rid of our pay TV service too and we’ve been really dilligent in terms of saving for a deposit on a house. What I need to keep reminding myself though is that saving that type of money in a long-term process and it won’t happen over night. I do get frustrated sometimes but cutting coupons etc is certainly a great step in the right direction and will pay off eventually!
Best of luck with the saving up!

In my option, saving is the best way to make money, and it’s the first way to earn your first money.
